Nothing to Write About (might as well gripe)

I don't understand why, when I shift positions, my wireless connection can go from excellent to low, and back again. The box is less than 10 feet away, with nothing obstructing the signal. What should it matter if I uncross my feet or otherwise try to get comfortable? I can understand it when I go outside to the veranda, but this is ridiculous. I mean, really.

  2. Funny thing is the wireless routers are not a "line of site" thing, obstructed view or not it should work! Unless you put a magnetic field between you and the router!

  3. I had immense problems - and the PC and wireless router are only 2 metres apart, separated by a wall - until I extended the PC wireless USB thingy until they can actually SEE each other. It doesn't make sense - but there must have been some problem which should not have existed with this technology.

  4. Power supply cord should not affect it, more like 220 power cord, which could have been in the wall Badger was talking about. High power speakers with large magnets, that type of thing... My wireless router is upstairs behind 2 other walls... Works fine.

  5. Steph,
mirrors can create electromagnetic fields (being metallic and good conductors, meaning tons of mobile electrons floating around between you and the router). Have you tried to move the mirror out of the way? (I may be all wrong.)

And yes, I have the same problem. Beats me why. No mirror, though. *hehe*

  6. No speakers, no walls. The only thing between where I sit and where the router sits is a stand up mirror.

I have the computer plugged into a standard extension cord that's plugged into the wall. Beats me!

    Thanks for your input, guys!

  7. Could it be my power supply cord?
