It’s World AIDS Day, and I wanted to post a picture of my friend Cteev, who died from complications due to AIDS at the age of 32 in 2001. He's the one on the left.
He’s been on my mind a lot this week. Sometimes I miss him more than at other times; this is one of those times. I miss his silly laugh and his unique sense of humor. I miss the way he used to help me with my garden and how he helped me drink my wine. I miss the wisdom that was hidden deep within the little boy he was and I miss getting to know the man he never had a chance to become. I miss you, Cteevenheimer.
I wish that I could have known him.
ReplyDeleteCteev was quite a character. I remember his arachnophobia and how I scared the hell out of him with a piece of string and grape stem, lol. He and I shared a huge laugh afterwards. I’d only known him for one summer but he had a way about him, like an old friend.
ReplyDeleteCteev was one of the brightest spotsa in my life. I miss him so much. Sometimes I swear I can hear him laughing. Especially when I do something really stupid. He was bigger than life. He packed a whole lot of living into his short life.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about that “spider.” LOL!
