Doc Tease

Why do doctors do the things they do? Why, when I saw my doctor last month, did she give me free samples of Celebrex for the deteriorating disks in my lower back, knowing that I can't afford a prescription? For a month I knew what it was like to be pain-free, and now it's back. This is blinding, chronic pain that I've had for nearly ten years.

What a cruel tease that was.

  1. Check out this link and this link. I think you would likely qualify for either one of those programs. It's a pain in the butt to have to fill out that kind of thing, but may be less than the pain in your back.

  2. Celebrex is nice, this is true, but it isn't the end all of pain management drugs. Talk to your Dr. or check out WebMD for alternative drugs that may fall on the Wal-Mart $4 prescription policy!

    I use Naproxen 500 MG for the pain in my knee. Remember me hobbling around? It helps dramatically.

  3. Great ideas, guys! Nettl just came home from her appointment with our doctor and brought with her another full box of samples. That will give me time to look into your suggestions.

  4. Look at it this way, Celebrex also has some utterly shitty side-effects that you'll be avoiding!

    Glass=half full!

  5. I never had any side effects with it. Being pain-free would almost be worth it if I had.

  6. Cox-2 inhibitors were a mixed bag for me: neither Celebrex nor Vioxx did a thing for me, but Bextra worked wonders. Of course, you can't buy Bextra anymore.

  7. There's always morphine!

    (did I say that too enthusiastic?)
