  1. so true. i don't watch the news anymore. the info i get comes from cyberspace and even then, it's too much information.

  2. I couldn't get rid of cable or the TV, but I don't watch the news anymore. Too depressing.

  3. Getting rid of television is one of the best things we've ever done to enhance our sense of well-being, creativity, and overall outlook on life. And if there is something we do want to watch, we can either get it on Netflix or look it up and watch it on line. We have ultimate control of what goes in.

  4. Keeping a populace in fear and discontent is the quickest way of keeping them in control.

  5. I'm glad that you have found the best way for you. I certainly don't watch the fear-mongers and when I do see something that I know is designed to engender fear, I know what to do with it. I decided long ago that I won't live my life in fear -- not even of those on the other end of the political spectrum from me and those that spew hatred. I like Jon Stewart the best because he makes fun of them and I think that's the best way to counter attempts at fear-mongering.

  6. Deni, Jon Stewart is one of the ones that I will specifically look up on line to watch. I LOVE him!

  7. No TV has really worked for us. Joel says that his anxiety level has decreased significantly. That's worth it all for me!

  9. The real advantage to not watching television this time of the year is that you avoid the political ads. I can't stand to watch the ones for the people I plan to vote for. The DVR helps, though.

  10. Oh yeah. Another thing I don't miss ia all of the pre-holiday marketing. Last year the Christmas holiday was stress-free because of it. It was the best Christmas I've had since I was a kid. A guilt-free Christmas.

  12. It's so much harder when there are kids involved.

  13. I haven't had a tv in over 4 years, and I have 6 kids. It works. They don't always understand it, but it works. One of my best friends as a child had a tv in her home, but nothing came in on it; it was only good for watching vhs tapes. I never understood why her parents didn't put bunny ears on it and at least get local stations, but when I hit my early 20's, I understood very well. It's refreshing to be lost in something other than a television set. Cheers!

  14. I went without TV for about four years back in the 90s and I really enjoyed it, so this isn't a new thing for me. We do have a TV, but it's used only for our Netflix rentals, which we only watch about once or twice a month.

    Thanks for commenting!
