I Need a "Thinking For Dummies" Book

I've been combing the web the past few days for my new template, which I'll install at the end of summer and which will stay put. (It will, I tell you. It will!) I finally found one I really like and that I can modify to suit the look I have in my mind, but I want a very customized look and Blogger Beta isn't helping me. I understand most of the new coding now, but there are just those few things that confoozle me. Well, only two where the new template is concerned. If you have mastered these, or know someone who has, please let me know, okay?...

I want to replace the sidebar titles with graphic images of my own design. For instance, instead of

My Other Sites

I want

I also want to reword "(2) Comments" in the post footer to say something else, like, "(2) People have left their mark", or something like that.

Any weisenheimers out there who have figured this stuff out?

On another note, congrats to Ville for guessing yesterday's Famous Locations No. 1! Have a cookie.

  1. You can change "comments" to whatever you want in the layout section. Just edit the "blog post" section. It's there.

    Unless your blog template is so different because of customizing. Then, I don't know.

  2. The "comments" text can be changed. You have to search for these lines:

    <b:if cond='data:post.allowComments'>
    <a class='comment-link' expr:href='data:post.addCommentUrl' expr:onclick='data:post.addCommentOnclick'><b:if cond='data:post.numComments == 1'><b>1 <data:top.commentLabel/></b><b:else/><b><data:post.numComments/> <data:top.commentLabelPlural/></b></b:if></a>

    and replace "data:top.commentLabel" with what you want to display when there are 1 comment and "data:top.commentLabelPlural" with what you want to display when there are more.
