Up, Down, All Around

I was good for absolutely nothing all day so I did exactly that. Stress knocks me out these day and I've learned to lay low when I start feeling the symptoms.

It was a good day in one aspect. Around 7:00 in the evening I got a phone call from Deni, who had just gotten home from the hospital. She went in for surgery in May and nearly died. It was a scary time for everyone who knows and loves her, and for me because we've been friends since 1968. Tonight, her voice sounded strong and happy; I haven't heard her sound that good in years...

It was also a worrisome day because our friend Lashell had surgery to remove two medium-sized tumors that had entangled themselves in and around her pancreas, large intestine, and gallbladder. Part of her pancreas and large intestine were also removed. God, she's only in her twenties.

This has been a see-saw week in more ways than I can write about here, so I'm spending this weekend doing nothing that will tax my brain or my emotions. Other pressures have lifted and I'm no longer a misanthrope. Thanks for bearing with me.
