Music Appreciation (for people who hate classical music)

This illustrates why I love Itzhak Perlman so much: he's not so great that he can't have fun and joke around! I saw him once on a John Denver special and they did a bluegrass piece with Itzhak playing bluegrass fiddle that was FANTASTIC!

And of course, Peter Schickele (who is a highly-regarded musician and composer in his own right) is a genius! Thanks for a fun video, Steph!

Did you ever see Perlman's documentary, In The Fiddler's House? Outstanding!

I always think it's interesting that people will make the statement... "I don't like (insert the genre of music here.)"

Pandora.com has taught me that there isn't really ANY kind of music that I dislike. (certain pieces are hard to tolerate for sure!)

But overall, who could not like music?

This was fun! Thanks for sharing it.

My pleasure!

Is that the one that shows him and other people doing jazz on their instruments? The title sounds familiar. I'll see if youtube has it posted.

He plays Klezmer with a number of Klezmer bands. Really wonderful!

Oh yeah! Now I remember! I only saw a bit of it, but yes, it was Klezmer. What I saw was great.

And I love how he's not too stuck-up to refer to his violin as a "fiddle"! LOL

You have no idea how big the joy you brought me today really is: I loved listening to Peter Schickele on NPR! I learned so much about music and I miss hearing "it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that certain je ne sais quoi" - such a shame that this great program did not receive enough funding to be continued! Thank you for reminding me of Schickele Mix! :-)
